Last weekend Paranormal Activity 3 broke box office records when they closed the largest grossing weekend of all time for horror movies, and the biggest October opening ever, at a whopping $54 million.  How did they do it?  It looks like social media, and more specifically Twitter, played an important role in building major buzz that led to this horror flick’s record-breaking weekend.

Early last week we posted about the most social TV shows, letting you know that Family Guy, Basketball Wives and SpongeBob SquarePants were among the most social shows on television.  The season 4 premiere of Jersey Shore changed all that.  Last week’s show broke the all-time record for one-day social performance of a TV series.  Major props to Snookie, The Situation and the whole gang!

Last week Google released an update to the Gmail app for Android that added new functions to control how much data synchronizes with Android phones. Unfortunately, it appears that the update removes some API functions that third party apps relied upon, causing those apps to no longer work.
