Last weekend Paranormal Activity 3 broke box office records when they closed the largest grossing weekend of all time for horror movies, and the biggest October opening ever, at a whopping $54 million.  How did they do it?  It looks like social media, and more specifically Twitter, played an important role in building major buzz that led to this horror flick’s record-breaking weekend.

Tumblr, the blog-meets-social-network service, has hit new record in terms of the number of unique users in the U.S. this July. According to comScore, the site recorded 13.4 million unique visitors in July 2011 up from 4.2 million visitors in July 2010, which is an increase of 218%.
