Popular social TV app GetGlue just got even more social with the launch of a new real-time conversation feature, Tumblr sharing and personalized widgets. The new GetGlue features were announced by Alex on the GetGlue blog and they’re giving GetGlue users the opportunity to connect with their friends and other fans like never before.

DirecTV users can now check-in to their favorite shows and enjoy the social TV experience directly from their television screens, thanks to a new partnership between DirecTV and GetGlue.  This is not only the first time that GetGlue has been integrated by a major pay TV provider, but it’s also the first time that GetGlue and DirecTV users have been able to check-in to shows directly from their TV screens, using nothing but their television remote.

GetGlue has announced a brand new partnership with Entertainment Weekly and Gap, incentivizing check-ins with real rewards.  This fall, when you collect Entertainment Weekly stickers on social TV app GetGlue you will qualify to receive a bonus reward of 40% off of one regularly priced item at participating Gap stores.  This makes Gap the first major retail partner to promote their fall collection alongside the Fall TV Season with a viral in-store incentive.

As social TV continues to grow in popularity, social entertainment check-in service GetGlue is making some exciting announcements.  They’ve seen a whopping 130 percent growth this summer, making August their biggest month ever.  GetGlue users checked in 11.5 million times in August, up from 9 million in July, and True Blood led the check-in pack by a landslide, with 490,787 check-ins.
