While it may not be as trendy as Gmail, as recently as last year Hotmail had more users than Gmail and Yahoo. You might not know it, but Hotmail was the original web e-mail service and was not always part of Microsoft. If you are a Hotmail user and don't have a Windows Phone, you have not been able to find a native Hotmail app for the iPhone or Android phones. Today Microsoft released the Hotmail app for Android, which is their second Android app after Bing.

In July, 2010 Google announced that they were acquiring ITA Software, which was a flight information software company. When first announced, the deal was controversial in that travel search companies like Kayak and TripAdvisor saw it as a threat to their business, but the deal closed in April, 2011 after review by the Department of Justice. Canonical, the commercial backer behind the Ubuntu Linux distribution, have been hosting a file synchronization service called Ubuntu One for a couple years now. A free account gets you 5GB of storage, and the client side controls have been baked into the last couple of releases of the Ubuntu distribution. Blogger is one of the first successful blogging platforms that for many people provided their first introduction to blogs. Blogger was also one of Google's first acquisitions, when the search engine company bought Pyra Labs back in 2003. Google hasn't done a tremendous amount with Blogger and it took them a while to develop an Android app for the service, and even longer developing an iOS app, which they just announced today.
