Hollywood studios progressively look to social media and network sites like Facebook as a distribution platform. Still, more work needs to be done to educate and turn social media users into audiences. Once they are hooked, it is a bright future for Hollywood and the sagging DVD sales.

By the end of the year Flipboard will be more than just a social magazine. The Palo-Alto based company plans to cut some awesome deals with studios to carry movies and episodes of TV shows, running right into Facebook, Netflix and Hulu territory.

Following the lead of Warner Bros, Paramount, and Universal, Miramax has jumped on the Facebook app bandwagon offering movie rentals in exchange for Facebook credits.

Along with watching movie clips and playing games, users will get access to full-length feature films from the Miramax library, including Clerks, Kill Bill, Good Will Hunting, and No Country For Old Men.
